What Mauritius is like

Mauritius is a volcanic island in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar. Most of it is ringed by a coral reef, so the lagoons are calm and shallow. Many visitors stay in beach resorts, but the hilly interior has gorges, waterfalls and tea and sugar estates. British Airways flies there direct from Gatwick.
