What St Lucia is like

St Lucia is a green, volcanic island in the eastern Caribbean, best known for the Pitons, two steep peaks rising straight out of the sea near Soufrière. Most hotels are in the north around Rodney Bay or on the hillsides near Soufrière. Flights from Gatwick land at Hewanorra in the far south, about an hour and a half's drive from Rodney Bay.
